Liner Notes: What you have received today is the first in an ongoing series of cd’s I’ll be making for you. Many of you have asked where did I hear that song or have asked about my cd’s or the concerts I’m working. So what we have here is a collection of new music I’m listening to plus I’ve added some other choice club mixes and selections from shows I’ve worked. I hope you enjoy this method of communication and I really hope it helps make all feel a little closer in these trying times. I am providing liner notes so you can understand why I chose each song for you and there will be a web page you can go to see all the shows I’m working and links to various websites for the bands. I’m thinking this could be like our own little club, hey I’ll even make a request spot on the web page so you can make requests. Okay I’m ready to get started.

Madonna – Substitute for Love
  • http://www.madonnamusic.com/

This cut was from the Ray of Light cd. I’m including it here because she opened her concert with this song. I had never heard it before and it moved me, I love the airy vibe plus it leads into the next few club cuts very well. The song is both sad but hopeful at the same time.

Have a Cigar (Orbital Remix)

Is this amazing or what? Those of who share my love things Floyd will really appreciate the quality in the new updated take on the classic. I heard this in a club and was able to get a copy from my friend Kevin the dj. Everybody dance!

The Crystal Method – High Roller

I worked their show at the Warfield. Amazing sound and light show. It is only two guys, who put out all this sound. This is a deep groove.

Seal – Crazy (Trance Remix)

Another club gem that is still fresh today after this update. Keep dancing!

Yes it’s really cheesy, but you can’t help but like it. Sunny day, windows down, bopping to the car stereo. The slower version is also on this cd.

Miscellaneous trance segue.

wmt-player-icon.jpg Sister Hazel – Gold Dust Woman

Outstanding cover version of the Fleetwood Mac standard. I went to see Stevie Nicks in concert last week and it reminded of how much this songs rocks. I found this version on the Internet and I think it really hits the nail on the head.

wmt-player-icon.jpg Train – Ramble On

One of my favorite SF bands. Those of you who saw the summer tour with Matchbox 20 heard this track live. This is a great recording; in fact it is a demo the band used in the early days to get gigs.

wmt-player-icon.jpg Matchbox Twenty – 3am

This acoustic piano version is from VH1 Storytellers. The recording is okay but I think Rob Thomas’ performance is so good that I had to include it.

Macy Gray – Sweet Baby

It was the video for this song that grabbed my attention. I think it is really cool how they show the couple meeting as kids on the playground then they grow together over time.

Craig David – Fill Me In

Current R&B sensation from Great Britain. He is a superstar in Europe and is now trying to break in here in the states. Very smooth groove, booty call jam.

Five for Fighting – Superman (It’s Not Easy)

I think we all feel this way sometimes. But if you listen carefully the song is actually very inspiring because it points out this common experience is shared by everyone, even Superman gets down.

Lee Ann Womack – I Hope You Dance

Becky and Karin asked me to include this track on the cd. A little country never hurt anyone.

NSYNC – This I Promise You

Since we are in soft mood here enjoy this song for the boy band. I ushered at their show in Oakland a few months back. The show was over the top with lights, fireworks, flying teen idols, lasers, 27 opening acts, etc.

Enrique Iglesias – Hero (telethon for WTC)

This is the traditional version of this tune. This recording is from the live performance on the telethon. The video for this song is what grabbed me (Jennifer Love Hewitt gets very steamy with Julio Jr.) but again over time the song has grown me.

Afroman – Cause I Got High

This one cracks me up. I understand the local NY stations are only playing a sanitized version so here is the uncut masterpiece. Not for the kids, please.
