Kick back relax and lounge. In the lounge lounging on a lounge chair. The word even sounds subtle. Lounge, say it with me now. LOUNGE. Since I travel so much my new company allows us to expense one airline club membership. I chose American since that is the airline I fly most frequently and they have lounges in Dallas, San Francisco, and New York. Smart Capture Premium0505_small.jpgCovers all my bases nicely. This was all new to me so I decided to check out the lounge in Dallas and man was I impressed. I know Dallas is a hub for American but this club rivals some of the nicer hotels I've stayed in. Calm surroundings and big open areas with comfy chairs. Televisions, telephones, wireless internet, super clean bathrooms and a very attentive staff.Smart Capture Premium0509_small.jpg A short menu and cash bar on one end and a full conference center and work cubes on the other and plenty of space to chill in between.

I should have joined one of these long ago. Newspapers, magazines and endless free coffee make this wait for a flight like none other. After checking in I grabbed a sandwich a kicked back. Smart Capture Premium0506_small.jpgEventually my name and flight were announced so off I went to my gate refreshed and ready to head home. At the Dallas location the word lounge is apparently revered and honored. I snapped a few picks from my PC cam so you can get a feel for the lounginess.

Bambuddha Lounge

Bambuddha_Photo1_small.jpgFriday evening back in San Francisco and I find myself in yet another lounge. After a brief disco nap and 10 minutes in the rain locker I am ready for anything. Zig zag, up the hill, and round the bend next I am tucking my car into a nice spot directly across the street from the lounge.

Bambuddha_Photo2_small.jpgI had been here once before and I really liked the space so I suggested it to my dinner companions as a nice place to meet, eat, and enjoy some funky cocktails. Friday night brings the beautiful people out to Bambuddha, or so they think they are. I told my guests to get a good look then focus on our little party. It worked, by the time the food starting arriving we had but forgotten the label conscious wunderkinds. The Asian inspired menu was served beautifully and each entree was a combination of familiar and unfamiliar flavors and textures. We took it all the way through a crazy banana ginger dessert that put me into hyperglucose heaven.

Bambuddha_Photo3_small.jpgThis unique combination of bar, restaurant, club, and outdoor patio is indeed a multi-lounge lounge. By the way you really get your lounge on here. Beds are used for couches and sprinkled inside and out. Stuffed chairs circle the outdoor fireplaces and heat lamps ring the outdoor lounge. My party spent the entire evening in all the various spaces, lounging. Friday of the lounges and it recharged my batteries to full. Good thing because I am off to South America tomorrow.

Check back next week for my Brazilian travelogue. Peace,
Sean
