Under the watchful eye of no less than 4 helicopters I dove
into my first San Francisco protest. It was not what I expected at all.
Since it was billed as a Peace March I assumed that the people would be
mellow. Hardly.
The mood was dark and the speakers loud and angry. The
few bright spots included the Sadaam and Bush puppet people battle, Dogs for
Peace, and (my personal favorite) the best T-shirt slogan ever.
The march took on a carnival flavor as it twisted up Market
Street. Drums and horns, people yelling into bull horns how is this
representing peace? Some people even labeled their children with ugly
slogans. Where was the love? Disagree and make a better point would be just
as effective. Scaring people isn't the way. Eventually I did find
peace. Hmmm. It was after everyone left. Peace march and rally, good
idea but bad execution this time. Just my opinion.
Peace,
no really,
PEACE
