The war has begun and now is the time we need the police to
be on guard. War protestors in San Francisco have been causing a great deal
of problems and causing a huge drain on the police. Now the police have been
very nice and pretty much have let the marchers go their way. In my opinion
some of the protestors wanted a confrontation and would accept nothing less.
No one said they couldn't protest and in fact it's almost a
San Francisco tradition. That's not good enough for some people and it ruins
one of our greatest freedoms. Free speech is way cool but it doesn't mean
you get to disrupt and harass those who don't share your views or choice of
actions. On top of that look at all the resources that went into managing
the protests.
Helicopters in the air and skirmish lines up and down the
streets. Shouldn't these guys be a at the airport, bridge, or other
potential target for a real terrorist. It's downright selfish and it puts us
all at risk to draw the police away from these tasks. San Francisco would
have accommodated a park protest and it would have had a much more
convincing and peaceful affect on the public.
How does turning the street in front of my office into a
conflict promote the idea of peace?
Agree or disagree, we have that right, but you don't have the right to be an asshole.
My experience over the past two days has made me a fan of
the San Francisco police. They endured a lot and kept a sense of humor. They
kept the walkways in the Financial District open and the guys I spoke with
were just plain nice. The protestors on the other hand took advantage of
their good will and mine. I'm not pro-war just anti- asshole.
