Crunk is a phenomenon which occurs when an individual becomes (happy, excited, angry, passionate, etc...) beyond one's ability to control his or her self. Crunk is known to be highly contagious, as well as addictive, and extended periods of crunk (aka crunkery, crunkitude, crunkness, crunkilation, etc...) may lead to death, either of the individual who is at the time crunk, or those surrounding said crunk individual.

Settle down kids we have a special event this week. Monday evening found me at the Fillmore learning a new term. Crunk was the order of the night as D12 (without M&M) and friends rolled into SF to educate the masses. Every once and while I hunker down to work a rap show so that I can keep current and see what those fun loving thugs are up to. This show was what we call a circus, multiple acts turning in quick sets. The crowd was unusually young and white and many even had a parent with them. The biggest problem we had was watching for drink passing. With so many minors the staff really had to guard the liquor license. Anywho let's focus on the artists.
As a rule these guys were...uhm...let's just say FAT. No not phat, but F to the A to the T, pass the gravy and whipped cream, can't see my toes fat. And they were proud of it! Bone Crusher encouraged the audience to chant "Fat Power!" and King Gordy was still eating a chicken leg when he walked out to greet the audience. The funniest scene was the line at the tour bus. Usually fans line up near the bus to catch a glimpse but on this greasy night the line was all delivery guys. Chinese, pizza, etc. a regular buffet of belly building blocks.
I may not have liked all the music but I can say that each act delivered a high energy set. Slum Village used a multimedia set that suggested a radio station taking requests. Slum would then perform the request and this kept the set moving along seamlessly. Eventually the kids got the crunk going so that by the time D12 came out no one cared that M&M wasn't appearing this night. The lesson here is don't overlook an opportunity. All the ushers had a great time and we went from laughing hard to chanting " I Ain't Never Scared" to laughing again. My belly still aches and I am now fluent in crunkology.
