Last
Friday I went to Aptos on the coast to visit Bonnie and Kevin. Since I
rise early and didn't want to wake my hosts I grabbed my camera and headed
out to the beach. As I walked down to the soothing sound of the
breakers I noticed something following me. A dark distorted figure
mirrored my every move just at my heels. The sun was starting it's
climb and I sat for a few minutes and studied my companion.
He didn't say
much but he did manage to keep my attention close to the ground. He
seemed to shrink as the sun rose higher and higher. It was like
looking at my shell. Just the outline with nothing inside. But
still he managed to keep up with my every step and never complained even as
the sun made him shrink. Together we continued to enjoy the morning
sea air and beach. We did take time to stop and smell the flowers and
think about all the great things in this world. Friends, family, and
the shear majesty of nature make each a day a gift.
Later
that morning Bonnie and Kevin and I shared a noisy breakfast then said our
good byes. I always seemed to get recharged visiting the coast and
taking in the simple pleasures. My morning ghost was perfect company
for the beach and my morning hosts were just plain perfect. Thanks
Snowy and K-Smog.
Peace,
Sean
